The prices you pay in one place like Manila is not the price you should pay in the province or other cities. There are some westernised fast food stores in some cities there now, but you need armed guards even at a shopping mall, Seven Eleven, McDonalds, Wendy's, grocery store, restaurants, and many places all over the Philippines.
